Power windows fix then fail 700 1985

The drivers side power window will not close. I took the switch apart and cleaned and polished the contacts and it works for several weeks, maybe a dozen up-down cycles, then fails to close again. I repeated this several times. I swapped with other less used switches, ok for a while. I tried to use a multimeter test lead to operate the window; it sparked but did not operate the window. It must take a lot of current to operate the window; which is verified by the 25 amp fuse. Some others seem balky also. Any suggestions?
