Rock and a hard place. ENGINE SWAP QUESTION. All input welcomed. 200 1988

Here we go. I have a 1988 240 in decent shape BUT... long story short, it's not going to be registered. I have a very nice 88, 745 Ti with a bad angine.

Will the 88, 240's 2.3 liter non-turbo engine, currently mated to a 5 speed manual transmission, replace the 740's bad turbo engine which is mated to an automatic, with out complications? Or at least with out impossible complications?

Another posibility is putting the 88, 240's engine in my 79, 245 which I assume would be easy but I really awnt to run the 745.

Any help is appreciated. I do realize that putting the 2.3 non-turbo in a 745 may be asking for a dog of a car but a slow dog is better than a dead dog at this point in my recently hazardous Volvo history.

Thanks
Richard
