*242 Bumper Help!* 200 1983

ok i bought this 83 242 a year ago its a halifax car if that helps but the problem is that i was looking at my bumper and both the front and rear are thicker at one side than the other. I though maybe it had been in a crash and the body was twisted(hopfully not) but then at a volvo show i went to there was a car like mine with the same bumper problem. what is wrong with my bumper? how can i fix it? is there somthing in side the bumper that could have collapsed at one side??
