Auto transmission problem 700 1991

I'm hoping someone can help with some troubleshooting advise
regarding an automatic transmission problem I'm having.
What's happening is the transmission isn't going into 4th
gear. I've checked the level of the A/T fluid (while the car
is running) and all seems fine. The A/T fluid was just
replaced a couple of months ago and the color is still pink.
After driving the car for some distance (5-10 miles) the 4th
gear becomes unstuck and works okay until the car is turned
off and the engine and transmission cools. Is the 4th gear
controlled electronically? Any suggestions or advise will be
appreciated. Thanks.
