Intermittent Power Loss-In tank pump? 200 1981

Hi,

I have an '81 GL that has run near flawlessly for the past year, in part thanks to this site. I bought an extra in-tank pump about a year ago as it was pretty buzzy when down to 1 gallon left in the tank, but never got in there to change it as it worked fine with ample power...

There is now a sudden, though intermittent, drop in power that is precise meaning it is always falling to the same new low-power level, like it was running on 3 or something, but it isn't. Can this be the pump stopping and leaving the work to the main pump?

I noted the problem yesterday, though looking back it likely began in the past few days. I changed the fuel filter last night hoping it would be that simple, not, and filled the tank this morning having heard about the rubber tube failure and again no luck.

Any advice before I change the pump?

Thanks,

Josh
