D-jet fuel pump interchangability 1951

I'd guess that any fuel pump that mechanically fits into the
space and that gives the correct fuel flow and pressure would
be good to use. I'd use the cheapest thing that fits and is
quiet. The potential down side is that the OEM fuel pump has
a known life span and it could be that some other pump may only
last a couple years.

Does the oem fuel injection system by volvo have a surge tank?
