what do corroded wiring connections look like? 700

1987 760t: i am experiencing trouble with my AC/heater blower (i.e. it is NOT blowing). i tested the purple wire that seems to run from my climate control switcher to the blower to see if any electricity was getting to the darn thing. nada, no voltage at all. so, i took apart the climate control switcher (the thing on the dash that lets me select temperature and fan speed, etc.) and pryed off a set of wires that connects to the back of the switcher. where the purple wire comes off, i noticed that the flat piece of copper was not as shiny or coppery as the copper connections for all the other wires. i have read about corroded connections and someone even mentioned using an eraser to clean up the connection, presumably this helps in allowing electricity to complete its circuit. does discolored copper count as corrosion? can i simply use an eraser to clean it? and if it is corroded in this way (discolored) is that enough to prevent electricity from getting to the blower?
