Huge hesitation at start-up, or not 200 1987

here's the latest problem (beside the fact that I backed into a saturn last sunday. . .arrrgh)

i've been getting some WEIRD starts for the last month or so. for example, this morning, i tried to start the car. it cranked for a second, turned over, then tried REALLY REALLY hard to stall. rpm's were down, lights flickering, car shaking, and then all was fine and the engine idled like normal.

also, a few days ago when i started the car, i barely turned the key and the engine was on, none of that hesitation crap. almost like the car was really looking forward to the drive or something!!

this only happens at start-up. no problems while driving.

any ideas for problems/fixes? i'm going to hit up a junkyard this sunday, so anything i might need to pick up for this problem while i'm there? (already getting a new back brake light, engine wire harness, air intake duct, and looking for gauges and maybe a new back door)

thanks for the help
