965 Aux cooling fan noise ...aftermarket 900 1994

I really doubt that Volvo would mount a fan through your radiator, but this method is common with aftermarket fans.

I'm sure that Volvo's fan is quite expensive, the one that I got for my 744 Turbo was.

You probably should pick up a fan at the salvage yard, even a bad one to use the bracket and shroud.

When I put an aftermarket fan in a 740 that I was selling, I was able to attach the fan to the Volvo fan shroud. Since the fan fit in the shroud pretty well, I held it in place with 8 loops of repair wire twisted tight. When I was done, it was almost impossible to tell that it did not belong there, and the fan worked pretty well.
