89-240 loss of power - no start 200

This has been plaguing me for about 6 months.

The car with 390k Km will begin to lose power, then stall. Once stall it will not restart. This time, with tools in hand, I chased the culprit to no spark. Was wiggling wires and the car restarted. I presume the wire I wiggled was the wire to the position sensor (held to the firewall at the back of the engine compartment, but I haven't taken the time yet to check its termination.)

This may make the masses out there go oh ya, easy fix...but stop. The last time this happened, all I did was twist the fuses in the fuse panel and it restarted, so I am still not sure what or where the problem lies.

Any of you shade tree mechanics got similar experiences or thoughts on how to isolate and repeat, as right now the critter starts right away.

Thanks in advance.
