Engine Quits. Why? 200 1983

My 240DL engine suddenly without warning will shut off while driving down the road. It doesn't sputter or miss just quits. I pull to the side of the raod shut off key and wait a minute it starts up and runs fine for milles/days then does it again. Any ideas on what is causing it. Fuel pump relay solder joints maybe? Help. Thanks for the input in advance.
