Head replacement/transplant question

I've been considering replacing my bad 740 Ti engine with a 2.3 from my 240.

Is the block the same in both cars? If so..... can I replace the head of the 740's Ti engine with the head of the 2.3 non-turbo, switch the ECU and all that and run the car as a non turbo? And.... if that's possible, I'm absolutely thrilled but for the problem of the 740 having the cam driven distributor. Can that be installed on my non-turbo head?

I've been around and around this transplant issue but I just don't have the assistance or equipment here so I thought I'd look into the head transplant possibility. If a full engine swap is best I guess I can get it done eventually but the head replacement occurred to me this morning and I thought I'd check it out.

Thanks to all you guys who gave me a good many tips on the full transplant plan. I just need to scale down the work effort at this time.
