Intermittent no start. 700 1990

This problem started after I had a dead battery. I do not know if this has any thing to do with it but I including all the info I can.
Ok after I would jump it off the car would start but sputter quite badly. After the battery was replaced the car ran fine for a day. This morning the car would start intermittently. When it started it would sputter, run for a few minutes and die. The timing belt is turning cam. Cap and rotor are fine. Coil is working. There are no codes in the computer. From looking through the FAQ I believe I have narrowed to the power stage or crank position sensor. I can I test these to determine if one is bad.
