more watts for headlights ok? 200

I wonder why the lights on the 240 have something like 55w/60w halogen lamps when you can buy 100's. Will I melt something or damage the silvering if I put in 100w's? Anyone tried or know why they're not higer watts to start with? Oh, yes, I have what I think are quaintly called the Euro lights - a metal reflector in a big plastic bucket with an oblong glass lens. An H4 lamp clips in the back.
