Side turn signal repeater installation - hints & tips wanted 900 1993

I've got the emblems removed and the holes cleaned up. If you've installed these lights on a 900 (or 700), how did you run the wiring - through what holes, grommets, etc... I see a grommet right behind the newly exposed fender holes, but I think that runs into the cowl water drain passage.

Just looking for any insight from those who have already done it. TIA!
