Tailgate wiring short 200

94 240 wagon

Sometimes my 3rd brake light randomly goes on. When I move the trunk up and down, my bulb out indicator light goes on. I have narrowed it down to the wiring harness at the top of the trunk (drivers side). The casing does look frayed also. I don't know how to change this or even access the wires. Do I have to take off the whole back door? Is there a panel I can just remove to get to it? Thanks a lot.
