If I remember the antenna is only used for FM. AM is internal, I'll double check.

Check all the connections from the radio to the antenna. Something may have come loose. Otherwise, the radio may be DOA. If so, consider a good quality aftermarket (Clarion or Alpine). You can get a nice Clarion CD unit for around 150$.
