Do it yourself A/C recharge kits, any good? 700

In a local flyer I found this A/C recharge kit, compatible with R12 (which I have) and R134a. It includes two 6oz cans of refrigerant, adapter hose and fittings, new retrofit valve adapters to meet gov specs. I have never used such a kit before. Has anyone else? Is it worth getting? Is it hard to do? The kit is $83 Canadian, plus taxes.

How much is upgrade from Volvo?

THanks
