Volvo 240 DL idle/fuel problems 200 1991

Hi, I'm Jason and I have a 91 volvo 240 DL sedan that is giving me problems. I have a limited knowledge of cars, but I like my volvo and I want to fix it myself.

1st problem... When I start my car, it wont hold an idle, and if it does, the idle is erratic, and i can hear it revving and slowing down. Its not a steady idle.

2nd problem... When I am driving my volvo, it stalls, and then is hard to start. It almost seems like the car just shuts off, and I can accelerate until it stalls. Then after it stalls, its very hard to start and usually doesnt.

I've changed my fuel filter, and visually inspected my spark plugs and wires. Has anyone had this problem before?
