Turbo/engine temp. 200 1985

Greetings,
Just drove my "new" 240 turbo wagon from Cali to KC,it made it but has a few issues. First the low speed temp was abit warm (Probably the fan clutch) Second on the last leg of the trip I noticed that when i would park, the heat from the Turbo would boil the coolant out the cap on the tank, it has a second generation turbo with the water cooled set up and figured that without the water circulating it would just sit and heat up, Normal? Also at nite I could see the exhaust manifold glow a dull orange to almost cherry red? again, Normal? or really bad, this is my first afair with a Volvo, any help appreciated. Thanks!
I have other questions but will start with this one
