86 760~ should we avoid it? 700 1986

Hi,
A colleague of my wife has an 86 760 for sale & we are considering it as a vehicle for her 18 yr old daughter. We drive Volvo`s but have no experience with the 7xx series. This car looks to have a decent body, it has about 175K on it, the motor is apparently "strong", the rear shocks may need replacing & they are niv`s & I know how expensive they are.
We are going to look at the car tomorrow. Anything we should be aware of beforehand? If it looks like a candidate we would, of course, have it checked out at the dealer before purchasing.
Thanks for any/all input! BTW, the asking price is $2300.CDN, approx.$1600 USD
