octane ratings 700 1988

Hi: I need some info on octane ratings for my 88 Volvo 740 Wagon B230F engine, non-turbo. The gas stations around here have reg rated at 87 octane, plus at 89 octane, and priemum at 93 octane. In the owners manual it says to use a ron octane rating of 91 or higher. I have been useing regular , but it dosn't have the kick that the 93 octane has but it costs about .25cents more per gallon. I will be towing a travel trailer in the near future and I would like your input in this confuseing issue to me . Thanks in advance , Dan.
