86 760~ should we avoid it? 700 1988

Rich
I own an 88' 760 GLE and am very happy with it. I got it from my dad who was the original owner. AAHHH, the perils of the FROG 6 cylinder, as many opinions out there as there are Volvo owners??? OK, the 760 IS a 740 in every respect except NO TURBO and it's got the FROG (Peugeot, Renault, Volvo collaboration). That includes the AC, it's the same. I think Bricks from 87' on have the F series B280, if it does then check for the LH electronic fuel injection. If you don't have that then you have the "E" motor which is really prone to problems. As with any car look at it and ask a lot of questions and decide if it's well cared for. If it is then take a chance. The V-6 is not as bad as some accuse it of being, even the E. Purist detest its existence as they do the FORD buyout. My V6 has excellent compression, runs strong and is tight. Read the 700 FAQ about the V6 in brickboard.com, I got most of my info from that. Your daughter stands a lot better chance of walking from a wreck in any Volvo, especially a 700 series, than the Toyota parked next to it. Good luck, I hope it works out. Use all this info to knock the price down to 1,000 USD.
