940 radiator repair 900

I noticed a small amount of rad. fluid loss over the summer....maybe 6 ounces since June. I finally found a tiny bit seeping from the upper radiator hose at the neck. The infamous cracked neck was revealed after I loosened the clamp and pulled the hose. I scored the small crack on the top of the neck with a utility blade and then cleaned it out thoroughly with alcohol and water and let it dry. I noticed that the neck of was metal underneath the plastic. Does anyone know if that is typical of OEM or aftermarket?
I mixed some JB Weld and worked it into the crack with a 6d finishing nail, then clamped it gently together and let it sit for about 4 hours. I cut 1/2" off the hose and replaced it being careful not to overtighten(that's what caused the crack to begin with I suspect). So far, it's holding up perfectly.

I may have bought another year or so with this radiator.
