Removing ignition tumbler assembly from 1981 240 200 1981

I am tiring of using a screw driver to start my 1981 245. The key itself still urns nicely in the cylinder, but the cast part that twists the electrical portion of the ignition switch has broken off. Is it possible to remove the cylnder/tumbler without removing the entire assembly from the steering column? I have discovered a small (1/8") pin inserted into the steering column side of the tumbler. Is this the secret?

I have found a replacement igntion tumbler assembly in my favorite junk yard and would like to remove the tumbler from it without removing the whole assembly from the column as well (it also as a functional key). Thanks.
