240Ti problem - need description of 740 turbo ignition system 200 1984

Hello,

I have a 240 turbo with a B23FT (9:1 CR) that uses the stock 240 head, FI, and ignition.
The problem is that I can only run 8 psi of boost. If I use 10.5 psi the engine starts to spark knock badly. I know that it is not lean, have checked it with an A/F meter, also did the terminal 11 trick, which had no effect on the problem.
I also retarded the base timing from 12 degrees to 8, which also had no effect.

I think I need an ignition system with a knock sensor, as the stock boost retard is not enough.

The cheapest and easiest way would be to install one from a 740 turbo, but I want to know how that system works and how much it can retard timing before I buy/install one. A wiring diagram would also be a plus.

Does anyone have this info, or any other suggestions on how to solve the problem?
Thanks,

Csaba
