ignition leads 900 1991

Hi all,

I went down to the garage last night and started the car with the bonnet up in the dark. While I stood there watching there was an occasional very faint flashing of light running along the length of the two front ignition leads. Does this mean that they are done for? I have a distinct "miss" in the engine and have been trying to locate the source. Could this be a possibility?

Thank for any advice
