'75 vs. '74 164 140-160

The 75 164 is a 240 behind the firewall really. Same center console, e-brake in the middle and stuff. Rear discs are 240 as well of course. The D-jet has a few minor changes, later type auxiliary air valve, rather than the water heated one. Very few 75-74 models were manual trans. The eight bolt B30 flywheel is consequently extremely rare. The trans is a dog for sure, but the B30 makes the best of it. I had a 73 164E with the 4spd OD, and it was great. Spoiled me for them - I find the automatics sluggish, which the manual was not. But if you like the way it drives, it is probably the best of the 164's so go for it.
