hello 240 bros,
need your help in a different way.
in the next 30 -60 days I am filing a claim in small claims court against volvo cars of north america because they did not stand behind a brand new (remanufactured) AW 70 transmission that I purchased for my 1986 240 sedan . I notified them on the 11th month that it was not running correctly and was acting up. they acknowledged. it eventually died at 70 mph in NJ on the 14th month after purchase. it took them 2 weeks to evaluate and their main reason for not replacing it is the fact that I did not have the rest of my car serviced at any volvo dealer (I am a tree shade mechanic, why would I?). they could not see the irrelevance of the rest of the car. they refuse to give me anything at all. even any assitance. zero nada. despite the fact that they acknowledge that the tranny is dead after 14 months. (remember it is a remanufactured which is supposed to perform like new) they invoke the 12 month warranty but they admit that I informed them on the 11th month about the probelm and promised to help if it eventually breaks. I lost around $2,200 including towing, used tranny, and labor. hence, my small claims suit.
how can my volvo freinds help? I want to collect around 20 sworn statments from different 240 volvo owners that their automatic trans (AW 70) has lasted more than 100,000 miles, or has outlasted the car itself, or, is still in the car running and has so and so gadzillion miles. (mine lasted around 14,000 miles, which therefore they should replace) 740 owners wiht the same transmission will also qualify. If you give me your address, I will send you pre typed sworn statement and you can simply fill it up (name, model, type of car, miles, when purchsed , etc) sign , have notarized (very important) and return to me in the included and pre-stamped envelope. I will pay for everything, stamps, notary and $10 for your trouble. but you will feel good that you have helped me strengthen my case against volvo cars of north america.
