Which volvo would you buy if you were me - $10,000

Hi, Folks,

I¡¯ve just landed a job in Washington DC weeks ago, and moved in here. Now, I am thinking seriously to buy a better Volvo. I love my old brick 240 DL wagon. I drove it from Texas to here. It gave me no trouble but safety. However, its body is getting bad and paint is peeling off. After getting the offer, I think I should get a better one. I visited www.volvocars.com, and the price is way too high for a new graduate like me. I like V70, but the price is above $35k. I also searched on www.autotrader.com, most of the Volvo below $10k have high mileages on them.
I am really confused ¨C my 90¡¯ 240 DL wagon, purchased at 128k miles, cost me $2,700. I saw some 96¡¯ 960 with 80k miles on it, asking for $15k. I am totally lost.
Need your input, any suggestion is welcome.

My preference:
1. Around $10k
2. Wagon
3. Less than 100k miles on it
Is it a reasonable range?

Actually I asked similar question before, but did not get detailed answer. Folks recommended 940/960. Why? Is it better than V70/V90? Any comparison?

BTW, would you please recommend a good Volvo mech shop. My old Volvo need some job done.

Appreciate your help!

- Shawn
