Lubing noisy 700/900 door hinges 900 1993

The driver's door on my wife's 940 has resisted all efforts at lubrication. It continues to make those horrible 'CRACK-CRACK' noises as it moves through the two opening detents. I've squirted lithium grease all over everything, including inside the little grease fitting, but to no avail. Has anybody had any luck silencing these things?
