Intermediate shaft compatibility 200

I'm in the begining throws of a 740 transplant (B230FT) into a 240 (B21) and I've started putting the parts together to move the distributor from the cam to the block.

One question that arose is can the intermediate shaft from the B21 be used in the B230 block? It has the gear teeth to drive the distributor and my Haynes books (take that with a grain of salt) indicate they have the same journal diameters and tollerances.

My big fear is I'll get them both on the bench only to discover one is 0.125" shorter than the other or the oil seal is a little different. If someone could clear this up I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Joel
