Yeah... CARFAX doesn't have very accurate accident reporting though. I bent up one 240 one time and it showed "moderate damage". It was like $3000 worth of damage, which was one quarter panel and the headlight assembly.
Then my dad totaled the same car. It was over ten thousand of damage with everything added in. CARFAX sez? "moderate damage".
Apparently "moderate damage" is anything between a fender bender and a huge collision. Besides, with unit frames, the repair is nearly as good as new, whereas body-on-frame cars have a harder time being straightened. The old adage "never be the same" isn't really the truth. I usually get cars with body damage and have them stretched and repaired.
That aside, however, the "A/C OFF" button is so STUPID I can hardly believe it myself. Typically, pushing a button implies that a positive change is taking place. In other words, turning something on. But not in this case. At least the thing lights up red at night when the A/C is actually off. But I still think it's dumb. They could have called it "A/C" and had it turn it on instead of off. Whatever.
By the way, your friend had the right idea. The 1992 700 is without question the best 700. The 92 had a lot of features that the 91 didn't (although any 91 700 or 900 is a good car anyway).
