89 240 AC Problem 200 1989

I am new to volovos. I am experiencing a problem with my ac unit. The 8 amp fuse blows immediately after starting the car. The fuse is shared with the rear window defroster. I removed the defroster switch and the fuse still blows. Is this a common problem? Please advise.
