SUSPENSION UPGRADE QUESTIONS 1990 740 700 1990

I just ordered my Bilsteins and am about to order the upgraded swaybars for my 1990 740 16v.

I would like to lower the car about 1.5" for better looks and handling. I've seen progressive springs for about $199. I'm wondering what would happen if I just cut a coil off the stock spring?

I've seen it posted that this will stiffen the ride, but with the additon of the bilstein, with their better damping, I wonder if this will offset to some degree that stiffness?

Also, I've seen adjustable swaybar links. Do these really help cornering?
I know that the sway bars work wonders, I've got them on my 1985 740 and it corners great, but if I can get similar perormance from these links?

Anyone with any comments? Has anyone done this before?

Thanks,
jc
