Request for help with Aftermarket Temperature Gauge for 87 245 200

I would appreciate any help with this. I want to add an aftermarket water temp gauge. Questions are:

From shop manual I see there are two temp sensors, one for fuel injection and one for the temp gauge. How do I identify the sending unit for the gauge? If I replace it with a new sending unit for an aftermarket gauge do I cause any problems with the rest of the instrument cluster? What is the thread on the sending unit?

I plan to use the volvo bezel to install the gauge between the instrument cluster and the radio.
