Shield under the A/C Condenser 200 1985

That thing actually directly the air that comes through the holes in in the center of the air dam up into the condenser/radiator. It has three large tabs on its front that stick into those 3 holes, and holes across the back edge that screw into the crossmember.

On the several 240's I have had there seem to be three ways to attach the deflector. One way it bolts on the the crossmember using the same type bolts that hold on the gravel shield. Another way is with clips onto another piece that bolts onto the crossmember.

That intermediate piece may still be on your car. It is plastic, same length as the deflector, and has a cross-section rather like a "U" 1/2 inch on each side. There seem to be two sizes of the "U" size. I have tried them all, just use whichever fits.

The deflector may be available at a recycle yard, you may call your dealer and be ready to cringe, or check places like fpcgroton.com or newandusedvolvoparts, or any of the other BB advertisers.

Good Luck,

Bob
