Oil drip 200 1988

Looking at a 1988 240DL, 150,000 miles. It is dripping what I believe to be tranny fluid (auto tranny). When car is parked it drops a bit of fluid during first 5 mins then quits. It looks like it is dripping at the small (2" x 2") plastic "grate" on the shroud under the tranny case (I'm new to Volvo's - thus the "loose" description).

Any ideas where the leak might be from or where I should start looking to determine what it is. In small town 150 miles from closest dealer so would like to be able to locate w/o driving the 300 miles to dealer and back if possible.

Thanks.

Abuelo
