service manual recommendations 300 1989

The haynes manual in question is good for 95% of your '89 car. What it doesn't cover is the new ignition (introduced in non-turbo cars in 1989, and turbo cars in 1990), which is basically all the same parts as before but with a new diagnostic system, which is documented extensively in the FAQ of this site.

As far as brakes, body, bearings, engine (mechanical), transmission, etc the '88 manual will be fine. What the manual doesn't cover is documented in the FAQ of this site.
