AIC & FPR 200 1982

Now I clean the AIC, but how do I know that my job was effective? I also cleaned what I assume is to be the flame trap. Now does the trap go white/black side towards manifold?(my bad)

I feel as though with the AIC, I sense a diaphragm inside, but am not sure if it is functioning properly now. Nor the flame trap.

By the way guys there is a smallish (bigger than vacuum) hose coming from the AIC housing, but I still don't see where to put it, it comes out of the top, where the wire connector is and makes a quick U-turn back downwards.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I WILL crack this. (i have to)
