Starla exhaust longevity 200

I just picked up a starla replacement exhaust kit so I can get inspected and back on the road. The kit looks fine for the price, but does anyone think that I should treat it with rustproof paint or something to increase its longevity?
If I paint the exterior will it rust from the inside out just as fast?
Any help is appreciated, but I've got to get this sucka up in the next day or two.

p.s. I noticed that the mufflers are made by walker after taking off the starla stickers covering the name. Is this the same walker as walker-dynomax?
