87 740 Turbo ignition 700 1987

My car is now running, after replacing the engine wire harness. The dealer said, a while back, the ICU was fried and it would need to be replaced. They didn't replace it and it is still in the car. The car now runs idleing and reving. I haven't left it on for more than 5 mins or driven it anywhere to allow the engine to warm up (since i got it working today). Since it does run, is the ICU bad or has nothing happened to it? Should I order a new one anyways?
Thanks, joel
