'fuel system realy' 200 1989

My 1989 Volvo 240 DL developed a problem. About once every other week it suddenly stalls when I'm waiting for a light. There is no obvious reason whatsoever because I wait for lights all the time and everything is fine. When the car stalls it also takes a while to start it again. This is also strange because normally I have no problems starting the car.
I was adviced to clean the throttle body (was very dirty) and to replace the
"fuel system relay". I can order one for $59 (pretty steep). The current relay looks fine to me, could there still be something wrong with it and does anyone recognize this totally random stalling problem?
Thanks,
Claus
