Relay to turn on AUX fan manually for cooling at idle 700 1989

Hola Bricksters:
Muchos relays on hand and new ideas keep cropping up!! Now I plan to add a dash mounted switch, that switches on a relay to run current to the AUX electric pusher fan in front ot the radiator. That way, I can turn it on during prolonged idling while in traffic (hot here in Texas) and turn it off during highway speeds. Of course, I would completely bypass the sensor on the radiator. And keep the original fan for the water pump.
Any ideas?? Am I trying to fix what aint broke??
GIA,
