940 Tach issue 900

Hello all,

I have an issue with the tach on my 93 940 Wagon. Last week as I was driving around town, when I got to a stoplight, when the car settled to idle after coming to a stop, the tach gradually dropped to 0 but the engine was still running. Once I started moving, the tach slowly rose back up and read what looked like correct engine speeds. I was able to repeat this several times during this ride. However, once I shut the car off and started driving around again the problem went away. The car continued to run smoothly. It never stalled or even stumbled, despite the tach reading "0". I'm waiting for this intermittant problem to get ugly and want to head it off if possible. Any ideas? Thanks..
