Pierburg fuel pump spacer - B20B 140-160 1969

I just bought a new Pierburg fuel pump for my '69 144. The old black spacer doesn't seem to want to fit over the cam lever. This new pump's lever is slightly flared right at the mating surface of the body and the slot in the old spacer won't fit over this flare. Any help?
