Possible problems using OD in 3rd gear? 200 1984

My 84 245 has a bad 4th gear switch. So until I get the chance to drop the tranny enough to exchange the switch I've grounded the relay full time to the center console (only took about 10 minutes to do). I realize that this will allow the OD to engage in all gears. My question is what will be the damage if I ACCIDENTALLY leave the OD on when shifting out of 4th?
Thanks
Marty
