Fuel gauge trouble 120-130

Hello all,

After refinishing my instrument cluster, I reconnected the wires to the fuel gauge (single black wire to passenger-side terminal and three red wires to driver-side terminal only to get a constant full-tank reading along with some melting of the positive (driver's side) terminal mount. I must have done something wrong as I tried installing a second gauge and got the same full tank reading. I know the tanks's not full. Does anyone know the correct wiring for the fuel gauge? (I'm talking about a '65 122s)

Any help greatly appreciated
