240 DL & 740 GLE, what are the differences?

hi, my question might sound stupid to most of you but i am at that certain point where i want to buy my first volvo. i have two offers and don't know how to decide. One is an 240 DL from 1990 (milesage: 155 000) and the other one is an 740 GLE from 1988 (milesage: 200 000). but what are the diferences? i didn't have a chance to see the cars yet but i would like to know.

is there anyone who would answer that question to me? thank you.
