Evening BB,
Bit of trivia to begin: What song, albumn does Ghostface speak of financing a volvo?
I'll post the answer later on, after my acct. comes through.
Anywho,
I'm new to the board, not volvos though. I've owned three since H.S., all 84 DL's (pretty sad from a turbo standpoint). The first two DL's happen to be white wagons or "Volvagons" as my friends called them, I called them "Shaginwagons"... The first, 200K+, was ditched at 55, early a.m. w/ a dead-end sign accompanied by a house & gravel gave no choice. The second, 185K+, was my pride and joy for three years; polished camcover & intake manifold, Optima battery, Alpine & Eclipse equip., draco wheels, K&N, modified air box w/homemade ram air, magnaflow muf., hella driving lights, est. 2000 coats of wax...
Long story short, after a few years w/o a swede, I'm back, w/ another DL project, this time a 148xxxml blue sedan (shotgun rust on driverside from street parking) w/ navy velour (perfect interior). I had gutted the interior (dash & all), cleaned & replaced broken tabs etc. Currently, the engine bay is empty, except for the block. I am redoing my head (doc says it's hopeless)w/ the big cooling ports (uhhh), have polished & refinished all metal & brightwork in bay incl. brakets, and degreased the soul out of the underbody. My intention is to ultimatly build a very sweet N/A 240 w/ some custom body bits & the like. If you have ever heard an old E30 M3 w/ a good A/M exhaust hittin' high on the cam, that is what I'm after, not a BMW clone, just used as a discription. I have many tasks to complete, as would be the case w/ a complete clean & rebuild. I need support & help, issues of performance upgrade & euro conversion are my big intrests. The B23f is a good engine, love the simplicity & logic, plus for the most part, it's bullet-proof. If I can hit 150hp in the end, I'm in nirvana (playing bass). So, keep it real volvophiles, the ol' rwd's w/b and are the modern euro classics. I expect to see them on the road for the rest of my life, or at least until we hover. More later. Pictures posted in the gallery soon.
